Meet Our Oral Surgeon
The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates of Fort Wayne would like to introduce you to the newest member of the team. Dr. Diepenbrock joined Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates July 1st, 2019 after the completion of his military obligation. After 14 years of active duty service in the Air Force, Lt Col. Diepenbrock, decided to leave active duty to return to his Mid-West roots. We are excited to continue to introduce him to our colleagues and the community.
Dr. Diepenbrock is a double board certified and fellowship trained facial cosmetic surgeon. His focus on surgical and non-surgical rejuvenation of the face and neck brings a diverse subset of skills to further set OMSA apart as the premier practice in the Tri-State area.
Dr. Diepenbrock was raised in Lima, Ohio. After high school, he attended Bowling Green State University and earned a full athletic scholarship for football where he was a four year starter and letter winner. At Bowling Green, he received numerous athletic and academic awards including induction into The Mortar Board and Golden Key National Honor Societies. He was selected as Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, a two-time selection to The National Dean’s List, and was awarded The National Football Foundation Post-Graduate Scholarship, among other recognitions. Following completion of his undergraduate degree in Biology, Dr. Diepenbrock played briefly for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League.
Dr. Diepenbrock attended dental school at The Ohio State University, where he was awarded a Health Profession scholarship sponsored by the United States Air Force. He was selected by his peers to represent The Ohio State University as a student delegate to the Ohio Dental Association. Additionally, he was recognized for his outstanding patient interaction and management skills. After Dental School, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and practiced as a general dentist for three years prior to beginning a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
In 2012, Dr. Diepenbrock completed an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at David Grant USAF Medical Center, Travis AFB, CA. During his residency, Dr. Diepenbrock’s passion for facial cosmetic surgery flourished and he gained significant experience in facial cosmetic surgery at that time. However, his drive for additional experience drove him to apply for a fellowship in facial cosmetic surgery. He was selected for, and completed, an American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery accredited fellowship at the Institute of Facial and Cosmetic Surgery in Murray, UT under the tutelage of the renowned Facial Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr. Brent Kennedy.
After completion of his fellowship, Dr. Diepenbrock returned to Travis Air Force Base as an attending surgeon with the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program. As the only facial cosmetic surgeon in the Air Force, he was responsible for training future oral and maxillofacial surgeons the sub-specialty of facial cosmetic surgery. After only two years as an attending surgeon, he was promoted to the position of Program Director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program. During this time, Dr. Diepenbrock continued to perfect his skills in facial cosmetic surgery. He garnished the 2015 United States Air Force Dental Educator of the year award as well as Air Mobility Command Educator of the Year. He was selected as the 2015 60th Dental Squadron Field Grade Officer of the year. He also earned the Donahue Research Award for most outstanding scientific publication in 2016. During his tenure at David Grant Medical Center, he was awarded the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Educator of the year three times.
Dr. Diepenbrock is a Diplomate (Board Certified) of the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery and the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He serves as the Secretary of the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery and Secretary of The Cosmetic Surgery Foundation. He is the Chair of the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery subcommittee on Membership and Recruitment, the Cosmetic Surgery Foundation subcommittee on Health, Research, Science, and Education, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery subcommittee on Fellowship and Education.
Additionally, he holds certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Basic Life Support. He actively lectures on a national level and he has multiple published and presented works. He continues to author and research.
Dr. Diepenbrock is very much a family man. He and his wife Tina have four children, who together love to ski, camp, fish, golf, and watch college football. He is active in the community coaching multiple youth sport teams. Although no longer on active duty, he will be serving the Fort Wayne community, the State of Indiana, and the United States as an officer with the 122nd Fighter Wing of the Indiana Air National Guard.
Dr. Diepenbrock is excited to have joined the team at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates of Fort Wayne, IN. He is enjoying being a part of the premiere OMS group in the region and an active member in the Fort Wayne community.
